Dorset Gravel Dash — Travel Information

Getting to Dorset Gravel Dash

Dorset Gravel Dash takes place on 29–30 May 2027, starting and finishing at the Square & Compass in Worth Matravers, on the Isle of Purbeck in Dorset.

Event location: Square & Compass, Worth Matravers, Dorset, BH19 3LF, England.

The organiser encourages riders to travel by bicycle or public transport where practical.

Travelling by Train

Wareham is the nearest mainline railway station identified in the organiser’s travel guidance.

Riders travelling by train should plan their onward journey to Worth Matravers, taking account of the distance, local road conditions and any restrictions on carrying bicycles.

The Swanage Railway also operates heritage railway services in the area, but connections, timetables and bicycle availability should be checked directly before travelling.

Travelling by Car

Worth Matravers can be approached from the north and west via Corfe Castle.

Riders travelling from Bournemouth or Poole may consider the Sandbanks Ferry, which provides a crossing to the Isle of Purbeck. Ferry operating times, charges and possible bank-holiday delays should be checked before departure.

Parking

The organiser identifies limited parking near the Square & Compass, with space for approximately 30 vehicles in a nearby field.

Parking arrangements and any charges should be confirmed for the 2027 edition.

Given the limited space and the event’s bank-holiday weekend timing, riders should consider travelling by bicycle from nearby accommodation where practical.

Travelling with a Bicycle

Allow sufficient time for assembly, equipment checks and reaching the event start.

Check bicycle carriage policies with train and ferry operators, particularly if travelling with a loaded bikepacking bicycle.
