Basajaun

25–30 July 2027 · Vitoria-Gasteiz, Spain

About Basajaun

Basajaun is a self-supported, non-stop gravel ultra-cycling adventure through the remote and spectacular landscapes of northern Spain.

Starting and finishing in Vitoria-Gasteiz in the Basque Country, the event takes riders through extensive forests, mountain passes, high plateaus and semi-desert terrain.

Organised by Transibérica Ultracycling, Basajaun combines the physical demands of ultra-distance cycling with the independence and adventure of bikepacking. Participants must navigate a fixed route while managing their own food, water, rest, equipment and mechanical repairs.

Named after the legendary Basque guardian of the forests, Basajaun is designed as a personal endurance challenge rather than a conventional competitive race.

The event is unsupported, with riders required to complete the route independently and follow the organiser’s regulations.
