Gravelescape Sheffield 2027 — Rider Services

Gravelescape Sheffield provides on-course support for riders tackling its three gravel challenges on Sunday 19 September 2027.

Although the event is self-supported, the organiser provides several services to help participants manage nutrition, mechanical issues and their progress throughout the day.

Feed Stations & Nutrition

The organiser plans feed stations along all three routes.

100 km route: Two feed stations.

150 km and 200 km routes: Three feed stations.

Feed stations will provide a selection of savoury food, fruit, snacks, sweets and drinks.

Riders will also be able to refill water bottles and replenish their energy supplies.

Food and refreshments at the designated feed stations are included in the event entry.

Toilet facilities will be available at feed stations, with additional public toilets accessible along the routes.

Exact feed station locations will be confirmed closer to the event.

Mechanical Assistance

Bike mechanics will be available at designated feed stations to assist with minor mechanical problems.

Examples of assistance include:

  • Replenishing tubeless tyre sealant.
  • Cleaning and lubricating chains.
  • Minor adjustments and basic maintenance.

Riders should carry essential tools, spare tubes or tubeless repair equipment and sufficient supplies to manage minor problems independently.

The organiser has not confirmed whether replacement parts will be available for purchase.

GPS Tracking

Participants will receive a GPS tracking device during event check-in.

The tracking system allows friends and family to follow a rider’s progress during the event.

Riders must collect their tracker before departing.

The organiser operates a staggered check-in system rather than a mass start, allowing participants to begin riding once they have completed registration procedures.

Bag Drop

A bag-drop service will be available at the event start and finish location in Sheffield.

Participants can leave a bag containing spare clothing and other personal supplies with the organiser while they complete their ride.

As the event starts and finishes at the same location, bags can be collected after returning.

The organiser has not yet announced the precise event venue.

Medical Assistance

Medical assistance forms part of the organiser’s event support arrangements.

However, Gravelescape Sheffield remains a self-supported cycling challenge, and riders are responsible for preparing appropriately for their chosen distance.

Participants should carry a charged mobile phone and any essential personal medication.

Detailed emergency procedures and contact information will be provided in the organiser’s participant instructions.

Start & Finish Facilities

The organiser plans to provide coffee and pastries at the start.

For the Sheffield event, the organiser also intends to include a beer and hot meal for participants after finishing.

The final venue and arrangements for these facilities have not yet been announced.

Participant Instructions

Updated instructions for the 2027 event are expected approximately four to six weeks before the event.

These will provide further information about event logistics, support arrangements and rider preparation.

Final GPS routes will be issued during the week of the event.

Participants should review these instructions carefully before travelling to Sheffield.
